Srinagar, Aug 20: In the 29th edition of the ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ program, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha focused on the unsung heroes and the youth of Jammu Kashmir.
Highlighting the potential of the young generation, he stated that the youth are a driving force for transformation and progress. He applauded the enthusiastic participation of the people of Jammu Kashmir in Independence Day events, emphasizing unity and commitment towards the development journey of the nation.
Paying tribute to eminent personalities from Jammu and Kashmir who contributed to societal progress, the Lieutenant Governor noted that the ongoing “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign is honouring unsung heroes who exemplify valour and selflessness. He expressed pride in the remarkable advancements across sectors and the empowerment of all sections of society.
With a focus on creating opportunities for the youth and empowering women, the Lieutenant Governor underlined the government’s dedication to a long-term strategy for prosperity and development. He urged collective efforts to realize this vision.
In this month’s episode, Lieutenant Governor Sinha highlighted success stories of women entrepreneurs inspiring others through determination and hard work. He shared the achievements of Asiya Jan, excelling in beekeeping, and Heena Lateef from Ramban, making strides in food processing while empowering other women.
The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged Tabinda and Nazia Kausar from district Doda, who became entrepreneurs through the Tejaswini scheme. He also praised Mumtaza Begum for her achievements in sheep farming, inspiring new entrepreneurs in the field.
The accomplishments of Lalita Devi and her Self-Help Group, as well as other noteworthy individuals, were mentioned, showcasing their journey toward economic empowerment. Notably, the Lieutenant Governor met Asha Malviya, a cyclist touring India for 10 months, and recognized progressive farmers like Abdul Ghani Sheikh and Pritam Singh from Jammu & Kashmir.
Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi call to promote millets as nutritious food, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted Abdul Ghani Sheikh’s pioneering millet cultivation and Pritam Singh’s innovative integration of agriculture, horticulture, and dairy.
Addressing citizens’ suggestions, the Lieutenant Governor assured commitment to the welfare of Safai Karamcharis, Valmiki community, and other marginalized sections. He acknowledged inputs from various individuals and directed concerned departments to act upon valuable suggestions.
