Australian High Commission announces an Australian Government Grant for a project in Kargil

Kargil, Apr 02:  For the first time in the history of Ladakh the Australian High Commission in India has announced an Australian Government Grant for a Project in Kargil of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
This was announced during a Special Meeting at Srinagar chaired by the Australian high commissioner to India, the Hon. Barry O’Farrell which was attended by Jack Taylor Second Secretary Political, Mrs Madhavi Peters founder member The Tropicalist Trust in Kargil, Dr. Abdul Kareem Associates Professor TDU Bangalore, Shabir Hussain Fayaz Dy. Director Tropicalist Trust in Kargil, Dr Aijaz Quraishi Islamic University of Science and Technology Srinagar.
The project “Return to Roots” aims to integrate traditional knowledge with the current school science curriculum in alignment with the goals of the NEP, which include increasing scientific engagement among school-aged children of tribal background. 
It takes as its inspiration Australia’s National Indigenous Science Education Program, which has achieved notable success in this regard.
Shabir Hussain Fayaz while talking to the media Said that the project is focused for 11th and 12th standard students which will be supported by LAHDC Kargil and Education Department Kargil.
He further said that the Tropicalist Trust of Kargil has been working in reviving the traditional knowledge of Natural Herbs and their benefits which will help in saving these herbs and its use for day-to-day life.
Fayaz said that this will be one of the first programmes in Kargil after Ladakh Became UT which is funded and approved by the Australian High Commission in India.
