Srinagar, Sept 14: An army soldier was injured during an encounter with terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district on Saturday and it was the second attempt within the week time, officials said.

A senior Army officer told Rising Kashmir that the clash took place in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector when army troops, guarding the LoC, intercepted a group of terrorists attempting to cross into Indian territory.

“Upon spotting the infiltrators, the army challenged them, triggering a gunfight that lasted for some time. The terrorists eventually fled into a nearby forest, prompting a large-scale search operation to track and neutralize them,” he said.

Meanwhile it is the second infiltration attempt in the Nowshera sector within a week. On September 9, two heavily armed terrorists were killed near the LoC in the Laam area.

A day before, two Indian Army soldiers were killed and two more were injured in an encounter in Kishtwar.

The police and the Army had launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Naidgham area in the Chhatroo belt connecting Kishtwar with south Kashmir’s Anantnag district when sepoy Arvind Singh and junior commissioned officer Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar were injured during a gun battle.

The two soldiers succumbed to their injuries soon after while the other two injured soldiers were airlifted to an Army hospital after preliminary treatment at a local hospital.

Indian Army Spokesman said that General Upendra Dwivedi Chief of Army Staff and All Ranks of IndianArmy salute the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts Nb Sub Vipan Kumar and Sep Arvind Singh, who laid down their lives in the line of duty in J&K and express deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

The White Knight Corps in  a post on X said that ‘in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, GOC White Knight Corps laid a wreath to pay homage to Bravehearts Naib  Subedar Vipan Kumar and Rifleman Arvind Singh who made the supreme sacrifice in the highest traditions of IndianArmy.
