Srinagar, July 23: A group of mountaineers from the Indian Army, led by Col Rajneesh Joshi, has accomplished a remarkable achievement by successfully climbing Mount Kun, which stands tall at an impressive height of 7103 meters. This challenging expedition, organized by the 19 Infantry Division, tested the team’s endurance and unity as they faced harsh weather conditions and numerous obstacles during their arduous journey.
The expedition began on 8th July, with a ceremonial flag-off from Baramulla by Maj Gen Rajesh Sethi, SM, VSM, GOC 19 Infantry Division. Setting off from the base camp on 11th July, the brave mountaineers encountered unpredictable elements, pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits. With unwavering determination and the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army, they triumphed over Camp 1, Camp 2, and Camp 3, inching closer to their ultimate goal.
On the 18th of July, at 11:50 AM, the team achieved a long-awaited victory as they proudly reached the summit of Mount Kun. Adding an extraordinary touch to their accomplishment, the mountaineers performed Yoga at an astonishing altitude of 7103 meters, setting a record as the highest point where Yoga has ever been practiced.
This remarkable feat not only demonstrates the unwavering dedication and exceptional skills of the Indian Army’s mountaineering team but also highlights the deep connection between physical well-being and spiritual practices. The team’s decision to incorporate Yoga into their conquest of Mount Kun serves as an inspiring testament to the harmony between mind, body, and nature.
With the successful ascent of Mount Kun, the team is now preparing for their next challenge – an expedition to Mount Nun, an awe-inspiring peak soaring at a height of 7,135 meters. Encouraged by their recent accomplishment, the same team will proceed towards Mount Nun, carrying with them the hopes and aspirations of the nation.
The Indian Army mountaineers have once again demonstrated their determination, bravery, and unwavering commitment to achieving extraordinary goals in the face of adversity. The entire nation eagerly anticipates their next venture, extending heartfelt wishes for their success and safe journey as they continue to make history in the world of mountaineering.
