Army establishes youth empowerment centre in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 29: Tiger Division of Indian Army Rising Star Corps facilitated in the establishment of a “Youth Empowerment Centre’ at Gangyal in Jammu to raise awareness and facilitate constructive engagement of youth in society. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Brig NR Pandey, Commander Tiger Artillery Brigade, Nuzhat Gull, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Deputy Mayor, JMC, other civil dignitaries and a gathering of locals including youth.
A defence spokesperson in a statement said the initiative of establishing the youth empowerment centre was conceptualised in coordination with civil administration through Jammu Municipal Corporation. “The centre is designed for the conduct of various skill development courses, events, lectures and other youth-oriented events for the empowerment of local youth in Jammu. In addition, the venue will be used to conduct de-addiction drives to promote awareness against drug abuse,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Deputy Mayor, JMC expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for this noble initiative and appreciated the efforts being made by the Indian Army to shape the future of the youth of the country. He also thanked Tiger Division and Tiger Gunners for being always there for the people and youth of Jammu. 
Brig NR Pandey reassured the audience and civil dignitaries that the Indian Army always stand shoulder to shoulder in undertaking the development initiatives for the youth of the region. Nuzhat Gull appreciated the Indian Army for undertaking multi-faceted initiatives for the people in rural and urban areas and assured of contribution from J&K Sports Council towards the Youth Empowerment centre, Gangyal.
