Jammu, Dec 25:In the aftermath of the Rajouri terror attack, The Army Chief, General Manoj Pande, on Monday visited Poonch sector of Jammu region to review the prevailing security situation n the reion. General Pande had an on spot assessment of the ongoing Combing and Search Operation (CASO) being conducted by the security forces to hunt down the terrorists involved in ambush of Army vehicles last Thursday.
“The Army Chief reached Jammu in the morning today and thereafter headed for Poonch.
Pertinent to mention here, four Army Jawans were martyred in the ambush by terrorists in Poonch last Thursday. “The Army Chief reached Jammu at around 10:30 AM in the morning today and straightway headed for Poonch,” Jammu based Defence PRO, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal told Rising Kashmir.
“The Army Chief, General Manoj Pande, interacted with the Commanders on ground in Poonch where he was briefed about the ongoing CASO,” the Defence spokesperson said. Adding, “General Manoj Pande exhorted upon the Commanders to conduct operations in the most professional manner and remain resolute and steadfast against all challenges”.
General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain, and senior civil administration and police officers have been camping in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to supervise the ongoing CASO and ensure law and order.
Meanwhile, the intense search operation continued for the fifth consecutive day in the dense forests of Surankote and the Thanamandi.
Mobile internet also remained suspended in Poonch and Rajouri for the third consecutive day on Monday.
