Jammu, March 19: The Jal Shakti Department has asserted that all contracts are awarded strictly in accordance with tender conditions outlined in the standard bidding document, ensuring compliance with pre-qualification criteria related to work experience and financial capability.
The government made this statement in the House on Wednesday in response to a query from BJP MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta, who raised concerns over the abandonment of key public works by multiple contractors, particularly in Udhampur West Assembly Constituency. Addressing the concerns, the government clarified that the department thoroughly scrutinises every proposal and document submitted by bidders through a contract committee, ensuring adherence to the terms and conditions advertised in the e-NIT (Electronic Notice Inviting Tender). However, the government acknowledged that some contractors had failed to meet execution requirements, leading to three contract cancellations or foreclosures so far. In these cases, a 10 percent penalty has been imposed on the executed amount.
