Srinagar, June 26: In view of the forthcoming Muharram, a coordination meeting was held at Police Post Mirgund with representatives of the Shia community on Thursday to discuss and review arrangements for peaceful conduct of religious events.

The meeting was chaired by SDPO Pattan Shahjahan Chowdhury and attended by SHO Police Station Pattan and incharge Police Post Mirgund. During the interaction, the community members highlighted certain issues, with the primary concern being the shortage of water in specific areas. The officers assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned departments for timely redressal.

The police authorities also emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and communal harmony. The participants were advised not to display flags or banners associated with any banned organizations. The community representatives acknowledged the advisory and assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies, reiterating their commitment to a peaceful and disciplined conduct of Muharram processions and gatherings. J&K Police remains committed to facilitating all religious activities in a secure and peaceful environment while ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place in coordination with civil administration and community stakeholders
