SRINAGAR, July 15: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, along with other senior officials, visited Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam today to assess the security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. The purpose of the visit was to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims participating in the annual pilgrimage.
Accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police SKR, DIG CRPF, SSP Anantnag, Commandant CRPF, Camp Director, and other senior officers, the ADGP Kashmir conducted a comprehensive review of the security measures in place. A security briefing was held to discuss the current situation and strategize further security measures, aiming to maintain a peaceful and incident-free yatra.
During the visit, the ADGP physically inspected the deployment of forces on the ground and emphasized the importance of coordination and joint efforts among the security personnel to achieve a smooth and incident-free yatra. A mock drill was also conducted to evaluate the preparedness and coordination of the security personnel in dealing with any unforeseen circumstances, including terrorist threats.
The mock drill focused on rapid response, crowd management, and evacuation procedures. The ADGP Kashmir also personally checked the functioning of the Joint Control and X-Ray Point and the Drone Management Centre, ensuring their readiness.
Meanwhile, the ADGP and the accompanying officers visited several naka points and interacted with the jawans and officers deployed on the ground. The ADGP instructed SSP Anantnag to take action against Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) and conduct regular Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) along with security forces in vulnerable areas of the yatra routes.
Expressing satisfaction with the security arrangements in place for the Amarnath Yatra, the ADGP Kashmir acknowledged the efforts of the security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Their dedicated efforts have ensured the safety of the pilgrims and maintained peace in the region. The ADGP emphasized that the safety and security of the pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra have always been of paramount importance.
The Amarnath Yatra holds immense religious significance as pilgrims undertake a challenging trek to the holy Amarnath Cave, nestled in the picturesque Himalayas. The ADGP Kashmir also appreciated the efforts of stakeholders involved in the pilgrimage arrangements, including organizations responsible for infrastructure maintenance, medical services, and other essential support systems.
