Jammu, Feb 11: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, Anand Jain Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting with senior officers and Commandants of the Armed Police (AP) and India Reserve (IR) Battalions. The meeting, held at APHQ Jammu, was attended in person by Jammu-based Commandants, while those from Kashmir participated via video conferencing.
During the session, the ADGP reviewed the implementation of directives from previous meetings, assessing progress on measures aimed at enhancing battalion efficiency, discipline, and the welfare of personnel. He directed Commandants to prioritise training programmes by enrolling personnel in regular and specialised courses, with particular focus on the New Criminal Laws to ensure legal preparedness and operational competence.
Jain also underscored the importance of physical fitness and mental agility, instructing Commandants to incorporate sports activities into the battalion’s routine curriculum. He called for regular route marches at the battalion level to enhance endurance and discipline and stressed the need for a structured sports calendar to promote competitive sporting events within the force. The meeting was attended by Sarah Rizvi, DIG IR Jammu; Shahid Mehraj, DIG Armed Kashmir; Vinod Kumar, DIG AP Jammu; and all Commandants of Jammu and Kashmir-based Battalions.
