Jammu, Feb 19 : In a significant move, the Administrative Council (AC), led by LG Manoj Sinha, convened on February 19th, 2024, and approved the reconsideration of its previous decision dated 07-09-2023. The decision reinstates enabling provisions for drawing up wait lists in recruitment to public services in the Government.
The Council decided to withdraw amendments made to various rules, including the J&K Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Rules, 2010, J&K Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2018, and Business Regulations of JKPSC/JKSSB, among others. This decision aims to streamline the recruitment process and facilitate timely filling of vacancies.
Furthermore, the Council granted a one-time exemption to recruiting agencies to draw up wait lists within six months for select lists issued since the earlier decision. However, this exemption is subject to the condition that the wait lists are drawn within the validity period of the select list and resultant vacancies due to non-joining of selected candidates have not been re-advertised.
This decision is expected to expedite the filling of vacancies, minimize delays in re-referral of vacancies, reduce the time consumed in subsequent selections, and provide candidates with opportunities for employment before reaching the upper-age limit.
