Srinagar, Feb 21:  In a sweeping initiative to bolster key sectors vital to Jammu and Kashmir’s development, the Administrative Council (AC) convened under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has approved a series of significant reforms. Addressing critical gaps in healthcare, justice administration, and sports promotion, these decisions mark a pivotal moment in the UT’s quest for progress and inclusivity.
Filling of leftover cacancies in paramedical institutions
In a significant move, the Administrative Council (AC) chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha approved the filling of remaining vacancies in paramedical institutions after centralized counseling by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE). The decision aims to address the challenge of numerous unfilled seats in both government and private nursing and paramedical institutions across the UT.
Establishment of special courts for NDPS Act Trials
Responding to the imperative need for expeditious trials of offenses under the NDPS Act, the AC sanctioned the creation of five Special Courts, one each in Anantnag, Baramulla, Jammu, Pulwama, and Srinagar districts. This decision aligns with directives from the High Court and recommendations from the Committee of Judges, facilitating more effective adjudication of NDPS cases with a financial implication of Rs. 4.65 Cr for the UT.
50% hike in honorarium for Rehbar-e-Khel teachers
The AC also greenlit a substantial 50% increase in honorarium for 2,417 Rehbar-e-Khel physical education teachers in the Youth Services and Sports Department. This enhancement, proposed by a High Powered Committee under the Chief Secretary, aims to incentivize and motivate ReK teachers, fostering the promotion and popularization of sports activities in schools throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
