Jammu, Feb 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of misusing the images of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh for political gains while sitting at the table with liquor barons.
Chugh in a statement said, “The BJP holds both national icons in the highest esteem and, unlike (AAP chief) Arvind Kejriwal and his party, genuinely works to uphold their ideals and principles. Under Kejriwal, AAP in Delhi has become synonymous with corruption and extravagant luxuries, as exposed by the CAG report in the Delhi Assembly today.”
The BJP leader added, “Kejriwal and his party leaders have mocked the legacy of Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh while indulging in corruption worth Rs 2,000 crores. The CAG report, which the AAP government had been hiding for months, has now laid bare the extent of deceit and corruption that AAP has carried out in the name of Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh.”
Even in Punjab, AAP is following the same modus operandi that Kejriwal’s government used to orchestrate the liquor scam in Delhi, Chugh said, adding, “Loot and corruption are rampant in Punjab, and it is only a matter of time before they are fully exposed.”
He demanded that the Bhagwant Mann government release a white paper on the various acts of corruption and administrative irregularities taking place in Punjab.
“A CBI inquiry should be conducted into the financial irregularities being committed in Punjab,” Chugh asserted.
The BJP leader also condemned Leader of Opposition Atishi for creating a ruckus in the Delhi Assembly over “false allegations” regarding the removal of photos of Dr Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh, calling it a desperate attempt to divert attention from AAP’s corruption and failures.
