Jammu, May 24: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) J&K UT has decried the “step-motherly treatment” with the people of Chenab region in general and Sub-Division Thathri in particular by the successive State and Central governments.
Kuldeep Kumar Rao, State Organization Building & Manifesto drafting Committee Member of AAP J&K in a statement said, “It is irony of the fact that the erstwhile Doda district which has now been bifurcated into three districts has sent several cabinet ministers in the State as well as the central council of ministers but sadly the socio, economic, health system and educational conditions did not change.”
He urged the Lt Governor for the up-gradation of trauma centre Thathri immediately by appointing specialist staff like children specialists, gynecologist surgeons and physicians, etc.
“Even surgical equipment for operation theatre is available but the same is not being used due to the non-availability of technical staff. In addition, there is a dire need of Digital X-Ray, ultrasound facilities and proper laboratory for all tests. Similar conditions exist in other parts of rural areas like Paddar Sub-Division, Tehsil Nagseni, Tehsil Marwah-Warwan and Chhatru,” he said
Rao also pointed out that three Mega Hydel Projects namely Salal, Baghliar and Dulhasti over the river Chenab generate over 3000 MWs of power, “which fetches around Rs 8 crores per hour but the bias, neglect and step-motherly treatment of successive State and Central governments is that the whole area of Chenab Valley remains plunged to darkness like ancient days”.
