Srinagar, April 19: The Department of orthopaedic GMC Baramulla has conducted Intertan Nailing for Proximal Femur for the first time without opening the fracture site.
“For fracture proximal femur (Intertrochanteric fracture femur), Intertan Nailing (new type of implant) has been done for the first time in GMC Baramulla without opening the fracture site,” an official said.
The procedure was done under the supervision of Dr Ishtiyaq Abdullah, Assistant Professor, Dr Aamir (SR) with technical support from Kaiser Rehman and Murtaza Rasool and the team of Anaesthesia headed by Dr Tehleel.
According to doctors, the advantage of this nailing procedure is that patients can bear weight on the affected limb the next day and can begin ambulation once the effects of anesthesia wear off.
This case was done under Ayushmann Bharat and the team has thanked the holistic support provided by Principal and Medical Superintendent of GMC Baramulla.
