Srinagar, April 18: The streets of the Gandbal area in Srinagar are in mourning over the tragic boat capsize incident that claimed the lives of six people, with three others still missing. In these difficult times, several NGOs have gathered and set up their tents in the locality, offering water, juices, tea, and other essentials to those who are visiting to offer condolences in Gandbal.
These NGOs include Athwas, Kashmir Concern, and the Rehmatulil Aalameen Foundation, which are providing a helping hand to the villagers mourning this tragic incident. Members of the NGOs stated that in these trying times, it becomes a religious duty to serve the people who are visiting the locality.
Rouf Elahi, chairman of Athwas, stated, Muslims must be always ready for such incidents. “To serve people in these difficult times is our main motive. We are serving on humanitarian grounds; we are here to help each other. Today this has happened to them: tomorrow it could happen to anybody, and as Muslims, we must help everyone in difficult times.”
“We were here on Tuesday when the incident took place. It is our third day here, and we are praying for the recovery of the missing trio.”
Another member of the NGO expressed satisfaction that God will reward their good work. “There are hundreds of people associated with different NGOs, but God hasn’t chosen them for this noble work. We have founded NGOs with the mission to help people in every difficult situation. We will continue this support for the people of the land who find themselves in dire conditions.”
