Ganderbal, April 08: In a bid to overcome long standing infrastructure challenges, the Central University of Kashmir has announced a transformative development plan for its Tulmullah campus, aimed at converting it into the Ganderbal District.
Established in 2009, the university has faced hurdles due to the absence of a permanent campus, relying on scattered rental facilities in Ganderbal.
However, recent months have witnessed remarkable progress in construction at the Central Tulmullah campus, fuelling optimism for the future.
Vice-Chancellor, Ravindra Nath has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the entire university campus within three years.
The comprehensive plan entails the construction of eight educational blocks and separate hostels to accommodate both male and female students.
To address challenges stemming from poor land standards, the university is exploring innovative solutions proposed by the ministry’s technical committee. These solutions include the utilization of pile foundations and special water management strategies tailored for marshy areas, with the ultimate goal of establishing a sustainable ‘net zero campus’ model.
Dr. Shahid Rasool, Dean of Academic Affairs, shed light on ongoing efforts to further enhance infrastructure.
Despite the temporary accommodation arrangements currently in place, the university is poised for a significant transformation, bolstered by its ambitious development plan and unwavering commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for its students.
