Kargil, Nov 09: Continuing its efforts at popularising backyard poultry farming, SKUAST-Kashmir on Saturday conducted Training cum Poultry distribution programme at Kargil. The programme conducted under Tribal sub-plan component of AICRP on poultry of Division of LPM, SKUAST-Kashmir at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kargil had Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC kargil Jb Jaffar Akhone as Chief Guest.
The programme was attended by Prof Azmat Alam Khan Associate Director Research and OSD to Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Ms Nasreen Fatima Programme cordinator KVK Kargil, staff of KVK Kargil and AICRP Poultry and 30 farmers from different villages of Kargil. Backyard poultry units comprising ten chicks and some quantity of poultry feed was distributed among the farmers.
Training programme on scientific poultry farming was also conducted. Speaking on the occasion Chief Executive Councillor hailed SKUAST-K’s efforts aimed at strengthening the Agriculture in UT of Ladakh in general and Kargil in particular.
He hoped that SKUAST-K will continue to hand-hold farmers and agri-prenuers in the region. Earlier Dr Nasreen Fatima in her welcome adress thanked CEC for patronage to KVK. She also thanked Prof. Azmat for choosing KVK Kargil for technology dessimination and input distribution.
