Srinagar, Apr 04: Unregistered job consultancies in the Kashmir Valley are duping highly educated people under the guise of offering jobs in foreign countries, often resulting in fake visas and job letters. Despite the growing menace, authorities have turned a blind eye to the issue.
Several students have complained of being deceived by these consultancies, promising jobs in various countries worldwide and taking hefty sums in exchange. Many students have received fake visas and job letters as well.
A youth from Tangdar Karnah in north Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara district was promised a security job in Russia by a consultant who took a good amount from him. However, his family was shocked when he informed them that he had been recruited by the Army and was stationed at the Russia-Ukraine border.
Zahoor Ahmad Wani of Karnah was promised a security job in Russia, according to his family, but they currently have no information about his whereabouts. They are recalling his movements helplessly, unable to take any action. His elderly father stated that initially, he was happy about the opportunity, but his happiness was short-lived when they received a call from their son stating he had been recruited into the Army and was stationed at the Russia-Ukraine border.
Similar complaints were received from several other students who claimed they had been deceived by these fraudulent consultancies.
A group of students told Rising Kashmir that they were also deceived by a consultancy owner in north Kashmir. They were asked to deposit 60,000 to 90,000 rupees to secure a suitable job in Dubai after waiting for months. They completed several formalities and were later directed to report in Mumbai after spending some time there. However, they received fake job letters and visas.
Upon verifying the information online, they discovered it was fake and fabricated. When they contacted the consultancy owner, they were threatened with dire consequences. Although they lodged a formal complaint, no action was taken.
The affected students are demanding a thorough investigation into these job consultancies, which are prevalent in every nook and corner of the Kashmir valley. They emphasise the need for proper registration of such consultancies.
