Leh, Jan 20: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday virtually unveiled the Tulampatti Bridge Class 70R with a 90-metre span in a ceremony attended by Brigadier Himanshu Hatkar, local enthusiasts, and Border Road Organisation (BRO) officials.
Constructed by 104 Road Construction Company/16 Border Road Task Force under Project Vijayak, the bridge enhances border infrastructure and road networks in Ladakh.
In his address, Singh praised BRO’s commitment to connectivity in remote areas, emphasizing the timely completion of over 330 infrastructure projects in the last three years. He commended BRO’s efficiency, innovation, and modernization, positioning it as a leader in technological advancement.
The Tulampatti Bridge in the Union Territory of Ladakh’s Nubra Valley, not only serves as a crucial lifeline for military operations, bolstering defence capabilities, but also opens avenues for tourism. Its strategic link to the road leading to the Siachen Base camp facilitates swift transportation of troops and supplies.
The Defence Minister highlighted the bridge’s significance as a symbol of progress, resilience, and unity. “It exemplifies how infrastructure development can bring transformative change, enhancing both military preparedness and economic growth. The bridge becomes a ray of hope, connecting people, places, and possibilities in Ladakh’s majestic landscape,” he said.
Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to border area infrastructure development, ensuring national security. Despite challenges, he expressed confidence in BRO’s role in nation-building by promoting defence preparedness and fostering economic development in border states through improved connectivity.
