Pulwama, Nov 23:A One Day Capacity Building Training Programme on ‘Identification of Mental Health/Psycho Social issues among Children and Adolescents was conducted at Govt Government Degree College Pulwama on Wednesday by Child Guidance and Well Being Centre (CGWC) IMHANS Kashmir (under MHPSS program of UNICEF) in Collaboration with District Child Protection Unit (Mission Vatsalya) Pulwama.
During the Training Program, technical sessions were held to make audience acquaint with the mental health issues among children and their remedies. The first session was held by Syed Mujtaba (Coordinator) who introduced, overviewed the importance of integration of Mental Health Psycho Social Support (MHPSS) in Child Protection System.
He highlighted the importance of mental health capacity building sessions for the village, block level child protection committee members. He also explained the role of CPC members in communities and their role in better referral of children in need of psycho social and mental health services.
Mental Health Counsellor, Nida Zahra talked about the dimensions of mental health, risks and protective factors.
Clinical Psychologist, Dr Bilal talked about mental health, psycho social problems among children with special focus on children at Child Care Institutes (CCI’s). Touseef Rashid, Psychiatric Social worker discussed about the communication skills and referral pathways for the children who want to get help.
Also, Sabreena Mushtaq, Protection Officer, Institutional Care at DCP Unit Pulwama held the session on child rights, Mission Vatsalya Schemes.
Participants from the Block and Village Child Protection Committtee Members from DCPU Pulwama, HWVO members and JKASW participated in the program.
At last, the vote of thanks was presented by Umar Mukhtar, Advocacy Coordinator CGWC IMHANS.
