Human Welfare voluntary organization holds felicitation ceremony for Gender Champions in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 27: Human welfare voluntary Organization facilitated on Thursday 60 Gender Championship fellows, who were part of 6 monthly long Gender equity fellowship as a part of Project ENGAGE (Engage all for Gender Equity).
The felicitation ceremony was held at Hotel Asian Park, Srinagar. President Touseef Raina, Umar Jaan graced the function as the chief guest along with Tahir Ahmad and other dignitaries from the Women Police station, Baramulla and DALSA Pulwama.
 
Speaking on the occasion, President Municipal Council Baramulla Touseef Raina said that the initiative was need of the hour. “The research work that is being done should be applied on the ground so that a useful set of desired outcomes are generated,” Raina said.
 
Raina in his brief speech appreciated the initiative of the Human welfare Voluntary Organisation and termed the initiative as inspiring in many aspects. Umar and Tahir maintained the felicitation of fellows and officials and encouraged them to work further with new vigor and constructive resolutions related to social and development-based issues. 
The fellows also showcased their work in the form of Documentaries and Presentations on issues such; Education of transgenders in Pulwama, Mensuration as a taboo in J&K, Domestic Violence in district Baramulla, and property rights of women in Jammu and Kashmir.
 
These projects were assigned to these fellows as a part of the Fellowship after going through a 5-day intense training module on Gender Equity, Gender and Budgeting, Gender and law, Case Management, and Problem tree Analysis.
 
About fellowship.
The Gender Championship, fellowship aimed to equip selected youth with skills and knowledge on gender, the concept of equity, and basic project management so that they begin and sustain their journeys on the path of being gender sensitive and being the positive agents of change in society. Six months of training prepared a cohort of youth engaged to promote gender equity in their districts who have improved knowledge and understanding of gender, roles, and manifestations at the community and family level and have improved skills with respect to working together, understanding different perspectives on social issues, and taking informed decisions.
