Kathua, Sep 19: District Administration Kathua organized special screening of movies “Toilet-Ek Prem Katha” & “Jal Sanrakshan” at different Panchayats to generate awareness on cleanliness and sanitation, besides encouraging the people to shun the practice of open defecation in Rural areas along with promotion of water conservation under its ongoing ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign.
While throwing light on the initiative, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Danish Rasool Mir said the aim of screening theme-based movies was to aware the masses about the issues revolving around the problem of open defecation in Rural areas and to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cleanliness initiative — Swachh Bharat Abhiyan under the ongoing “Swacchta Hi Seva Campaign. It was a motivational movie for all those who are associated with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he added.
A short movie ‘Jal Sanrakshan’ was also screened to inform the participants about Water conservation and to make efforts to safeguard the water environment while maintaining a balance between current and future human water demands, the ACP informed.
The screening of movies evoked overwhelming response from the people who were excited to watch the movie, which conveys an effective message for cleanliness and water conservation.
Pertinently, Kathua Administration has devised a calendar of events under Swachhta Hi Seva campaign to organise activities which will be held in all the 19 Blocks of District Kathua covering Panchayat Ghars, Block Headquarters, Panchayat Secretariats with focus on maximum participation of School Children, Panchs (village representatives), Panchayat Secretaries, Panchayat Accounts Assistants, Sarpanchs (village heads) and Block Development Officers and locals.
Meanwhile, Rallies, Swachhta Pledge, ShramDaan activities, painting and slogan writing competitions were also held in educational institutions of all levels, while Swachhta drive was conducted in government offices under the ongoing ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign.
