Srinagar, Sept 20: Dr. Hakim Irfan Showkat has been conferred Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC) Fellowship.
Dr. Showkat is one of the youngest Cardiologists from Jammu & Kashmir to receive APSIC Fellowship.
“On behalf of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC), we sincerely thank you for your interest in FAPSIC Application, we are very pleased to inform you that your application has been successful and the Society confers on you as APSIC Fellow. We would like to invite you to the Fellowship Convocation which will be held in conjunction with the AICT-AsiaPCR 2022 (6-8 Oct), Singapore, where you will be made a ‘Fellow of APSIC’ in a formal ceremony in the Main Arena on Thursday, 6th Oct at 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM”, Dr. Showkat was informed by the APSIC via email.
Hailing from Bemina, Srinagar, Dr. Showkat did his MBBS and MD from Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science’s (SKIMS) Soura; DNB Cardiology from All India Heart Foundation – National Heart Institute while as he is already youngest Cardiologist from JK to get FACC (International Fellow from USA).
The APSIC (Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology) was first conceptualized at an interventional (PTCA) cardiology meeting organized largely by the former Schneider industry medical group. It was held on 29th March 1993 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, with a good participation of approximately 200 delegates. It’s founding members have been Dr. Richard Ng (Singapore), Dr. Arthur Tan (Singapore), Dr. Dray Hung (Taiwan), Dr. John Ormiston (New Zealand), Dr. Ashok Seth (India), and Dr. Upendra Kaul (India)
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Dr. Showkat said “I am starting Start-of-Art Cardiology services in Kashmir soon for the larger benefit of patients”.
