Late tea seller’s son cracks KAS, makes father’s dream come true

Srinagar, Jan 20: Aabid Hussian Lone’s father, a tea seller died in 2021. Two years later, his son is doing him proud by fulfilling his dream.
Aabid from Udipora village of Handwara in north Kashmir has cracked prestigious Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) in his second attempt, scoring a 180 rank.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Aabid said his father wanted to see him as an administrator. “I kept chasing my father’s dream of becoming an administrator. My father used to sell tea near the district hospital in Handwara to meet family ends and he died two years ago.”
He said that despite poverty, he didn’t let his dreams go. “With the help of my sisters I qualified for the examination. Poverty can never be an obstacle; if one has dreams to chase. You just need to work hard and have faith in Allah,” Aabid added.
Aabid is currently working as a panchayat account assistant and is posted in Kupwara.
Sharing his journey with Rising Kashmir, he said he had been preparing for this exam for many years and couldn’t make it in his first attempt.
“When I couldn’t make it in my first attempt, I didn’t give up and kept myself motivated.”
On being asked about his inspiration, Lone said it is his mother. “My biggest role model because is my mother. After my father’s death, she took all the responsibilities. My sisters, too, have played an important role in my success. Without their support, nothing would have been possible because the journey was not easy,” he said.
