Fire station Gund to be shifted in Sonamarg for winter months

Fire and Emergency department to shift fire station Gund to Sonamarg during winter season.

According to an Order issued by Department a copy of which is in possession of Rising Kashmir reads that Fire & Emergency Services Department has been directed vide Divisional
Commissioner Kashmir letter No: Divcom/PS/Misc/2022-23/2129 dated: 12-11-2022 to shift Fire & Emergency Station Gund to Sonmarg for winter months.

In this connection a meeting has also been held in the office of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on 24 12- 2022 where in directions were passed to Executive officer Sonmarg Development Authority and District Administration Ganderbal to provide suitable accommodation for housing
the men and machinery of the proposed fire station at Sonmarg.

It is worthwhile to here that there is apprehension of water freezing in the tank of the fire tender mention during
winter months; as such garage for fire tender is equally important.

In view of the above, it is requested that before Fire Station Gund is shifted to
Sonmarg for winter season a suitable accommodation for fire tender be provided so that the station can be established housing
there.

Div Com during his visit to Sonamarg in October this year he said that to promote Sonamarg as winter tourist destination, he said that it is imperative to have all facilities available to the tourists especially heating arrangements in hotels, water and electricity besides proper plan for its promotion at all levels as a winter destination so that tourists can have the best experience here.

He has already directed the Director Tourism Kashmir and CEO, SDA to devise a proper mechanism for its wide publicity as a winter tourist destination.
