Srinagar, Nov 04: Dr. Qazi Mudasir from Central Veterinary Hospital Srinagar has been awarded internationally by Global Alliance for Rabies Control a US & UK based alliance for Rabies Control in recognition of their valuable contributions to rabies prevention.
 
GARC is dedicated to eliminate rabies in both humans and animals in support of the global goal to end deaths due to canine-transmitted rabies by 2030.
 
 Its mission is to prevent human rabies deaths, and to relieve the burden of rabies in other animal populations, especially dogs. It is dedicated to eliminate rabies in both humans and animals. 
 
      Dr. Qazi Mudasir reported that incidence of Rabies in animals has been reduced to almost nil in Kashmir valley by educating masses regarding the role of prophylactic and post bite anti-rabies vaccination in animals.
 
 Further, making people aware regarding the behaviour of canines and keeping the provision of food & shelter for strays has definitely helped better community relationships between humans and dogs. 
 
Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir under the able guidance of Shri. Atal Dulloo (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Production Department Jammu & Kashmir has kept various medicines, vaccinations in the Veterinary Hospitals on subsidized rates so that every animal owner can afford treatment and care for their animals.
 
 Department has also kept provision for free treatment of stray and destitute ownerless animals who are in dire need of help and treatment.
