Islamia College organises One Day Program for promoting Start-Up culture among Students

Srinagar, Nov 06: Continuing its streak of awareness programmes about innovation, Entrepreneurship and Start-ups, the Innovation and Incubation Centre of Islamia College organised one day programme titled ‘From Idea to Start-up” for its students on 5th November 2022. The program was attended by a large number of students. 
The sensitization program saw the innovation and start up experts rubbing shoulders with the budding student entrepreneurs of the college.
Speaking on the occasion, the principal of the college, Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir said that since the inception of the Innovation and Incubation center in the college since 2019, the college has been at the forefront for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among the student community in general and students of the college in particular. 
The college has, as part of NEP 2020 mandate, trying its best to provide enabling environment to its students to inspire them towards start up culture, he further added. He apprised the students that the college has recently announced an innovative mobile application ideas contest and college is offering cash prizes worth 1 lac for promoting of start-up culture.
Shahruk Mushtaq, Ex incubation Manager, NIT Srinagar presented a generic view how an innovative idea can be converted into a start up and gave a detailed presentation delineating its various aspects.
Arshad Hussain Bhat, Product Manager, Srinagar Technology Consultants, gave tips to the students how starts up can be started in general and the IT in particular. He exhorted students to be future ready by embracing latest technologies in the market.
Maria Rashid, Areeba Wani, Hamza Wali, Zufiaz, Arbain, Aisha Muzaffer, and Nazia Imtiaz, the budding student entrepreneurs of the college, show cased their enterprises and shared their respective stories how they converted their ideas into start-ups. 
Their inspiring stories evoked interest among the students about the start-up culture.
The program saw an interactive session between experts and the budding student entrepreneurs and the students of the college, wherein student queries about prospects and challenges of start-up in Kashmir were addressed by them.
The vote of Thanks was presented by Dr.Zahoor Ahmad Jhat, convener Innovation and incubation center of the college. He apprised the audience that the college will continue to hold such sensitization programs in future as well for the benefits of the student community.
The day long proceedings were anchored by Dr. Nasreen chisti, co-convener Innovation and Incubation center of the college and Dean commerce and Management, who also earlier presented the welcome address.
