Kulgam, Nov 22: The authorities on Tuesday retrieved 15 kanals of state land in an anti-encroachment drive in Kulgam town.
A Revenue Department official said a team led by Tehsildar Kulgam, which included police officers, started the drive in the town and took back the illegally encroached land in the area.
Tehsildar Kulgam Bilal Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that the land under illegal encroachment anywhere in the tehsil will be retrieved “at all costs”.
“Fifteen kanals of land recovered today was handed over to Government Degree College Kulgam for construction purposes,” he said, adding that the illegal state land encroachers will be dealt with strictly and there is zero tolerance against it.
Bilal said that previously retrieved large chunks of land have already been provided to industries, agriculture and other departments for development.
