Srinagar, June 25: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a meeting today with prominent members of PRIs, Civil Society organizations, trade, business, and spiritual leaders to discuss the preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The 62-day long festivity is set to commence on 1st July.
During the interaction, the Lt Governor emphasized the importance of active participation from all sections of society in the event, aiming to promote peace, brotherhood, and the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed his gratitude towards the society for consistently welcoming the devotees of Baba Amarnath Ji and ensuring their well-being, citing it as a beautiful example of peaceful and harmonious coexistence.
Highlighting the region’s ancient values and collective efforts over the past three years to elevate Jammu and Kashmir to new heights of success, the Lt Governor stated, “We are ready to welcome pilgrims and hope they will go back to their respective states as brand ambassadors of J&K.” He acknowledged the significant role played by members of civil society groups, elected representatives, spiritual leaders, and other stakeholders in fostering unity and driving the region towards peace, progress, and prosperity.
The Lt Governor quoted an ancient saying, “Let us all walk together, let our thoughts and resolve be one, and work together for the progress of the society with one mind and with the spirit of oneness.”
“Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra not only provides a spiritual opportunity but also holds social and economic significance for the people,” he said. The Lt Governor acknowledged the role of prominent citizens in promoting new ideas and reforms through intellectual leadership during the event.
Emphasizing that every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir is a stakeholder in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the Lt Governor welcomed suggestions and inputs to enhance the pilgrimage experience for devotees.
The meeting also discussed arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival and the celebration of Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. The Lt Governor informed the attendees about a recent district-wise review conducted to monitor preparations and ensure smooth arrangements for the Eid festival.
Prominent attendees, including Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor SMC; Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson, J&K Waqf Board; DDC Chairpersons; civil society members; representatives of various organizations; religious heads; and community leaders shared valuable suggestions and assured their support and cooperation to the administration in facilitating the peaceful and smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
In response to the demands and issues raised during the interaction, the Lt Governor assured the attendees that appropriate steps would be taken to address the developmental needs of the people.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; RK Goyal, ACS Home; Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board; Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; and senior officials from the Police and Civil Administration.
