Srinagar, Jan 4: Shamim Akhtar, daughter of Abdul Gani Hafiz, a resident of Natipora, Srinagar, passed away on Friday evening (January 3) at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, NCR, after a brief illness.
Her brother, Hafiz Ayaz Gani, serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Rising Kashmir.
According to the family, Shamim Akhtar had been unwell and was recently shifted to New Delhi for specialized treatment, where she underwent surgery.
Unfortunately, her condition worsened at Medanta Hospital, and she passed away on Friday evening.
Shamim’s body was airlifted back to Srinagar, where her Nimaz-e-Jinaza was performed at their ancestral graveyard in Natipora.
The funeral prayers were held at 7 pm and were attended by a large number of people from various sections of society.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at the Rising Kashmir office, where editors, correspondents, reporters, photographers, all staff members of Rising Kashmir, Buland Kashmir and Sangarmal and well-wishers extended their sympathies.
They expressed their heartfelt condolences and prayed for strength for the grieving family to bear this irreparable loss.
Executive Editor Anuja Khushu extended her condolences to the bereaved family. On behalf of the entire RK team, she offered heartfelt sympathies, stating, “Our thoughts are with you and we pray that you find strength, peace, and solace in this difficult time.”
