Jammu, June 14: Former MLA and president NC Pir Panjal Zone Javed Rana on Wednesday appealed to all stakeholders to come together for a collective fight against drugs and substance abuse in the Pir Panjal region claiming that the issues have become alarming and is eating up the vitals of society. He was addressing a meeting of NC workers and office bearers of Mankote Block, who highlighted the issue of drugs in the region.
Rana said that drugs are being supplied in the region under a well-knit strategy to ruin the future of the youngsters as it seems to be the ploy of enemies of the nation to provide drugs to every household in the region through a network of peddlers as the situation has already turned critical.
“Substance abuse and addiction affect individuals, families, and communities, and it often requires collaborative efforts to tackle the problem effectively,” he said. He laid stress on cooperation among governments, law enforcement agencies, religious leaders, healthcare providers, community organizations, social workers, political parties of all shades, and individuals in raising awareness, preventing drug abuse, providing treatment and support to those affected, and implementing effective law enforcement strategies.
“By working together, we can make progress in combating drug-related issues and promoting healthier communities,” he said.
Rana alleged that it is part of a ploy to keep the Pir Panjal region backward by making its youth defunct and directionless. He urged the higher-ups of J&K Police to constitute a special team capable of taking to task those elements, who are peddling drugs and ruining the future of youngsters. He also asked the NC leadership of the region to join the government and police in combating this menace as the fight against drugs is a difficult task and no entity can do the same all alone.
