Bandipora, March 04: Chief Education Officer Bandipora Abdul Majid Malik on Saturday said that private schools in the district charging admission fee will face legal action.
Talking exclusively with Rising Kashmir, Majid said that several parents have voiced complaints about certain private schools taking exorbitant amounts of money as an admission fee.
He went on to state that any private school that charges admission fees must reimburse them without delay, or else the school will be stripped of its recognition.
Any violation of the government order under Section 13 of the RTE Act, 2009, which prohibits private schools from collecting admission/capitation fees, will be met with legal action, including a fine of up to 10 times the fees charged from parents, CEO Bandipora said.
Majid said that the privately-run schools in the district had been instructed to comply with the government order of not charging any enrollment fee and making their tuition fee structure accessible to the public on their websites and school notice boards.
He further stated that a committee had been constituted to monitor the adherence of the order.
