Baramulla, May 11: At least five people were injured after being bitten by a jackal in the Tarzoo village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
A police official said the wild animal emerged in the village and attacked many people, leaving five injured. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, he said.
The officials at the hospital confirmed told Rising Kashmir that all of the injured individuals are now in stable condition.
The wildlife officials cautioned the locals to be vigilant when working in orchards or areas where wild animals are known to roam freely.
The local residents, however, alleged that they had already informed the concerned department about the presence of the wild animal in the area, but no action was taken.
