Pulwama, Mar 05: A promising young talent from Dadoora village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has clinched a coveted spot in the upcoming training camp set to select players from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) for the prestigious 70th Senior Level Kabaddi Championship.

The championship, scheduled to take place in Maharashtra from March 21 to 24, has gained added significance for Pulwama residents with Amir Hameed Ali, a 24-year-old resident of Dadoora village, emerging as one of the two players from the Kashmir division to make the select list for the coaching camp.
Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, the General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association, disclosed that a roster of 20 players, including two from the Kashmir division, has been earmarked for the camp. The chosen players will undergo rigorous trials, and based on their performances, the best among them will be entrusted with representing J&K in the upcoming national championship to be held in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
Amir, who has been honing his skills for the past three years at the Mid Line Academy in Maharashtra under the tutelage of Coach Ankit Mhatre, expressed optimism about his chances.
He disclosed that he is  among the list of probables and emphasized the diverse origins of the players, noting that one player is from Srinagar and others hail from the Jammu division.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Amir underscored his dream of gracing the Pro Kabaddi League, a goal he has tirelessly pursued through years of dedicated training. Notably, Amir has already represented J&K in the Yuva Kabaddi Series held in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, in 2021.
Expressing gratitude towards the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association and its General Secretary, Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, Amir lauded their efforts in providing a platform for nurturing young talents in the region.
He also extended appreciation to the District Secretary of the Kabaddi Association in Pulwama, G M Ganaie, and Coaches Manik Sharma, Sudhesh Raina, and Mohammad Ameen for their invaluable guidance and training of young players in the sport.
