Ganderbal/Pahalgam, July 03: The ongoing Amarnath Yatra witnessed a massive turnout, with more than seventeen thousand devout pilgrims flocking to the Holy Cave from both the South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and the central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district routes.
Official sources reported that a staggering 17,000 Yatris had the divine darshan of the revered Shivling at the Holy Cave since the Yatra commenced.
The devoted pilgrims, comprising 8,328 men, 1,822 women, 190 children, 112 Sadhus, and 15 Sadhvis, arrived at the sacred cave shrine from the Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps during the last two days.
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, applauded the administration for making all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Yatra. He confirmed that over 17,000 pilgrims had visited the Amarnath Holy Cave by 11 am on Monday.
The Yatris expressed their contentment with the excellent facilities provided by the authorities, making their pilgrimage through the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Helicopter services were also available on both routes, ensuring convenience for the devotees.
This year’s 62-day long Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 1, is set to conclude on August 30. In light of its significance, tight security measures have been put in place along the Amarnath route and Baltal Base Camp to safeguard the pilgrims.
On Monday, two caravans carrying a total of 4,758 pilgrims set off from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu to embark on their spiritual journey to the cave shrine.
