Budgam, March 21: Police on Tuesday said they arrested a mother and son for storing and selling contraband substances in their home in the Gopalpora area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police official told Rising Kashmir that the Police Post Mochwa received information that a contraband substance has been stored by one person Mohammad Yaqoob Khan, son of Sirajudin, and his mother in their house in Gopalpora.
“However, the police team led by Inspector Mudasir Shafi along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class B K Pora raided the house and conducted searches during which they recovered 31 sticks of charas-like substance weighing 1 kg & 122 gm,” he said, adding that both mother and his son were arrested.
A case FIR number 46/2023 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Chadoora and the investigation has been taken up, the official said.
