Prof. Saleem-ud-Din interacts with students, staff at GCW M.A. Road

Srinagar, May 27: Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar organised an interaction session with Prof. M. Saleem-ud-Din, former Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, on Saturday. Students and staff of the college attended the session held at the college’s auditorium. 
The session was presided over by Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Qayyum Husain. Others present on the occasion included Dean Academics Affairs, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone; Registrar, Dr. Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi; Controller of Examinations, Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Mir and Principal of SP College, Dr. Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi.
In his address, Prof. M. Saleem-ud-Din deliberated on the true essence of education and how students should make productive use of the college time. He said the students should be more pro-active and look to learn on their own.  Acknowledging the role of teachers, he said, “You come here while making huge compromises with your family life, so make sure the time you spend here is fruitful and worth the compromises.” 
He also complimented Cluster University Srinagar and GCW M.A. Road in particular for making strenuous efforts towards achieving academic excellence. 
Felicitating the chief guest, Prof. Qayyum recalled their close association. He termed Prof. Saleem-ud-Din as his mentor.  Prof. Qayyum also referred to major policy reforms made by Cluster University since he assumed the charge of Vice Chancellor. 
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Principal of the host college, Dr. Ruhi Jan Kanth formally referred to the historic role of the institution in fostering women emancipation. She said the current focus of the college is on skill development and research.
During the question-and-answer session, Prof. Saleem-ud-Din responded to the queries of students and teachers. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone also spoke on the occasion. The session was moderated by Dr. Monisa of Biotechnology department.
