Srinagar, June 21: Apni Party provincial president Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir on Wednesday said the protection of women’s rights is primitive for the social and economic growth of the society.
Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding women’s constitutional rights for the overall well-being of society, he said the Apni Party is holding both a vision and a roadmap to ensure the protection of the rights of women and their empowerment. “Once the party is mandated to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, it will leave no stone unturned to ensure the empowerment of the women,” he said while addressing a meeting of the party’s women’s wing from Srinagar’s Lalchowk constituency.
In his address to the gathering, Mir held successive governments responsible for their failure to take the necessary initiatives to protect women’s rights in Jammu and Kashmir. “Despite the provision of 33 percent reservations for women in various important fields, the governments in power have, thus far, failed to effectively implement the necessary measures for women’s empowerment,” he said, adding, “It is imperative to provide women with all the necessary facilities and restore their rights in order to achieve comprehensive social and economic growth within our society.”
Ashraf Mir assured that the Apni Party has a clear vision and a well-defined roadmap for the holistic well-being of women in Jammu and Kashmir. This vision encompasses their social, educational, economic, and political empowerment, ensuring comprehensive progress in all these aspects, he said.
“If Apni Party is mandated in the upcoming elections to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, it will strive to actively work towards the empowerment of women and translate its vision into concrete actions and policies that bring about positive change in the lives of women across the region,” Mir said.
