Anantnag, Apr 20: A Day-long ‘Payam-e-Ramadhan’ festival was held at South Campus, University of Kashmir on Thursday.The festival was organised to enlighten the participants about the message of the holy month of Ramadhan.
More than 100 participants including studentsfrom various departments, faculty and non-teaching staff attended theprogramme, which also provided a platform to the students to showcase their talent.The programme started with the recitation of Quranic verses by Dr. M. A Runiyal.
Dr Ibrahim Ahmad Mir, faculty member, threw light on the role of holy Quran in igniting the spirit of love, compassion and brotherhood among people. He highlighted the benefits of fasting during Ramadhan.
The students in large numbers participated in Husn-i- Naat, Husn-i-Qirat, while few students also gavea brief account of Payam-e-Ramadhan.
Dr Rukiya, Dr Abid Hussain, Dr Shabir Hussain and Dr MubashirAhmad recited Naat, Qirat and also highlighted the philosophy of Ramadhan.
Director, South Campus, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday delivered the concludingremarks in which he highlighted how the holy month of Ramadhan imparts the teaching of compassion for others in people and makes them work for the welfare of fellow-beings.
Assistant Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Javaid Iqbal Bhat, conducted proceedingsof the programme.
