Srinagar, May 31 :-  Two residents of Sopore and an alleged guide were apprehended in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district while attempting to exfiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC), officials said on Sunday.

The arrests were made during a joint search operation launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on the basis of specific intelligence inputs, the Army’s Chinar Corps said.

The Army said the two individuals from Sopore were intercepted by troops while attempting to exfiltrate with “inimical intent” along with their accomplice guide. Further investigation is underway, it added.

In a separate incident, an intruder from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) was apprehended while crossing the LoC in the Uri sector, the Army said.

According to the Chinar Corps, alert troops intercepted the individual and apprehended him after challenging him near the LoC.

The intruder was subsequently handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for further legal proceedings, the Army said.(KNS).
