Srinagar, Jan 08: A high-profile delegation from the Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF), led by Mohammad Yaseen Khan, met with Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo to extend congratulations on his recent appointment and discuss pressing concerns affecting the economic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation, according to a KTMF statement, raised concerns related to J&K Bank, urging comprehensive financial solutions for small-time traders. They emphasized the need for revisiting lending policies, especially in sectors like horticulture and education, and suggested a review of the rating mechanism. The delegation also sought a restructuring plan for additional funding to borrowers.
Concerns were raised about the decline in lending activities by J&K Bank, and the delegation called for urgent measures to encourage increased lending. The members advocated for a soft one-time settlement (OTS) policy and durable solutions for small-time traders facing financial challenges.
The inadvertent impact of ongoing road widening projects on local shopkeepers was also discussed. The delegation called for a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to adequately compensate affected individuals and provide viable alternatives.
The trade body raised power-related issues faced by commercial consumers and sought an amnesty program. They emphasized the importance of enhancing the efficiency of electricity supply and streamlining power distribution.
The delegation also raised concerns about congestion in Downtown Srinagar and other towns due to inadequate parking facilities. The members urged the Chief Secretary to prioritize the establishment of well-planned parking spaces and ensure accessible fire tenders in densely populated areas.
The KTMF extended invited the Chief Secretary to visit Srinagar and neighboring towns. They expressed eagerness to facilitate the visit.
The meeting concluded with the delegation congratulating Atal Dulloo and expressing optimism about the positive impact of his leadership on the prosperity and well-being of Jammu and Kashmir.
