Budgam, Aug 25: Stating that the package of developmental initiatives unveiled by LG Manoj Sinha for district Budgam was a welcome step, Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has said that some vital areas were seen missing in it.
“Significant areas of Budgam district, especially Khansahib, Khag and Chrari Sharief, which hitherto remained neglected on account of development, have again been overlooked by the LG administration,” Hakeem said in a statement a day after several developmental initiatives for the district were announced by LG Manoj Sinha.
Hakeem stressed for an “inclusive infrastructure developmental strategy”, saying, “Otherwise the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas cannot be fructified and will remain a distinct dream.”
The PDF chairman said that the opening of a degree college at Khag town – an educationally most backward area, remains the long-pending demand of the local people which has not been mentioned in the wish list for Budgam unveiled by the LG administration.
Likewise, the people of Khag have been craving for a Sub District Hospital (SDH) for getting affordable healthcare facility which is a genuine demand and has not found a place in the announcement, he said, adding that the execution of work on mini-hydel power projects at Nallah Sukhnag and Nallah Kishen Ganga was pending for long.
The former minister urged the LG administration to take a fresh review of the developmental requirements of various areas of Budgam at the ground level and formulate a “logistic, inclusive and futuristic infrastructure developmental strategy”.
