Baramulla, Sept 10: In a remarkable medical feat, a 9-month pregnant woman with amenorrhea successfully underwent surgery at Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla to remove a massive cystadenoma weighing approximately 12 to 15 kilograms, equivalent to the size of 40x35x30 centimeters.
Medical Superintendent AHGMC Baramulla Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi said that the complex procedure was conducted by a team of dedicated medical professionals led by the Head of Department, Dr. Humaira Noor, along with consultant Dr. Mudasir Ahmad and Senior OT Assistant Abdul Hameed.
“The rare surgery, which took place at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, resulted in the safe delivery of a healthy baby and the well-being of the mother,” he said.
He said that the patient’s condition had posed a significant challenge due to the size of the cystadenoma and the advanced stage of her pregnancy, making this operation both critical and ground breaking.
Dr. Humaira Noor, renowned for her expertise in complex surgeries, expressed her satisfaction with the successful outcome of the procedure.
“It was a challenging surgery that required meticulous planning and a highly skilled team,” she said.
“Our primary concern was the safety of both the mother and the baby, and I am delighted to report that they are both in good health.”
