9 students injured in Kupwara tyre burst

Srinagar, Aug 25: A sudden tyre burst at Nutnusa in Kupwara district led to the injury to at least nine students and a teacher hailing from the Education Zone Sogam on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred when the students were returning from zone level sports event from  Nutnusa. The incident caught everyone off guard  causing a commotion at the site.

Eye witnesses told the students were waiting for transportation at the venue. The bursting of a vehicle’s tyre resulted in injuries to multiple students present. Both boys and girls were among those who were injured in the incident.

Without delay, the injured students were swiftly taken to GMC Hospital Handwara to receive immediate medical attention. The injured have students identified as Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah (Teacher), Bisma Rashool, Dilawar Shafi, Masrat jan, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Pakeeza Mushtaq, Ifra Rafiq, Aimana Bashir, Adfar Mumtaz, and Nazima Farooq.

Medical Superintendent at GMC Hospital Handwara Dr Nisar Ahmed Wani have confirmed the occurrence of the accident.

 He has assured that the injured students are presently under medical care and their conditions are stable. The students are responding well to the treatment being provided.

Meanwhile, a police officer has officially confirmed the accident to Rising Kashmir. The authorities have taken cognizance of the matter, ensuring a thorough investigation into the incident.
