Kathua, Oct 11: District Power Lifting Association Kathua has organized 6th District level Powerlifting Championship (2023-24) under the direction of All J&K UT Power Lifting Association.
The Chief Guest was DDC Vice President Raghunandan Singh whereas the Guest of Honor was Additional SP, Paramjeet Singh. Other guests were DDC Nagri, Sandeep Majotra, Municipal Councilor, Rahul Dev Sharma, Dr. Sourabh Shastri from Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, International Gold Medalist Inspector, Gulzar Ahmed, Ravi Kumar Jassal, International Athlete, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, President District Kathua Powerlifting Association, Yashoda Jasrotia, Incharge Women Cell, Sunil Sharma, SHO Lakhanpur, Ajay Sharma, Chief General Secretary of All J&K UT Power lifting Association, Shabeel Ahmed, General Secretary, District Kathua Power Lifting Association and members of All J&K UT Power lifting Association.
The championship was started with the lighting of lamp by the honourable guests. More than 80 lifters participated in the championship in which 12 were girls. The participants had participated in Sub -Junior, Junior, Senior and Master Categories.
The best male lifter (in Senior category) was Rubham Sharma whereas best female lifter was Konika Sharma in the championship. The winners were awarded with Medals and certificates by the Chief Guest of the event DDC Vice President Raghunandan Singh and they were selected for the UT level Championship.
At the end of the event Shabeel Ahmed (Gen Sec, Power Lifting Association Kathua) delivered the vote of thanks.
