Budgam, Sep 26: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Saturday reiterated his party’s resolve to strive for “restoration of the constitutional and democratic rights” of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Upholding honour and dignity of the people and restoration of their constitutional and democratic rights was the core mission of PDF,” Hakeem Yaseen said while speaking at a public meeting here. “Our party would be ever-ready to offer any sacrifice for protecting the honour and identity of the people of J&K,” he said.
Hakeem urged the Centre to hold assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir without any further delay to “restore democratic and constitutional rights” of the people and to enable them to elect their own representatives.
The PDF Chairman also urged the Central government to initiate meaningful confidence-building measures (CBMs) to bridge the “prevailing mistrust and disenchantment” among the people of the Union Territory.
“People here want peace with dignity, restoration of their democratic rights and fulfillment of their political, social and developmental aspirations which need to be reciprocated with love and humanitarian approach,” he said, adding that the “proxy” governments in J&K have failed to solve the problems of the common people.
The rapport between bureaucracy and the common people has reached its lowest ebb, he alleged.
The former minister asked the people to reject dynastic political parties, saying J&K has “suffered greatly” due to their rule.
Hakeem asked the workers to improve their public interface saying that the future of politics belongs only to those who have the trust and goodwill of the common people.
He asked the party workers to be fully prepared for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayat elections.
