Srinagar, Oct 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday met with the delegation of the newly constituted district body of the women’s wing Kupwara at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.
Among others, the party’s Women’s Wing State President Shameema Firdous, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Provincial President Women’s Wing Er. Sabiya Qadri were also present on the occasion.
The delegation consisted of District President Dr Rabiya Wani, District Vice President Fatima Bano, Rabia Khan, Aarifa Bano, Meena Bano, Saleema Bano, Masooda Bano and Shaheena Bano.
On the occasion, Omar passed on good wishes to the newly constituted district committee members, impressing upon them to actively take up the issues concerning the women folks across the frontier district. He asked the women’s wing functionaries to reach out to women in villages, towns and also those belonging to the tribal and other backward communities.
He further impressed upon the women’s wing functionaries to spearhead the party’s mass contact programme on the ground, saying that women have emerged from the label of silent voters becoming key players, who will actively contribute towards strengthening the party on the ground.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference In Charge constituency Hazratbal and YNC Provincial President Kashmir Salman Ali Sagar on Wednesday said due to the absence of the elected representative’s general public is facing major problems while the incumbent administration has forsaken the people of Srinagar.
He said this while addressing a delegate meeting of Block Hazratbal at party headquarters today. During the meeting, Bashir Ahmad Ganaie was unanimously elected as Block President (Block A, Hazratbal) and Mr. Dilawar Ahmad Reshi as Block President (Block B, Buchpora Hazratbal).
Speaking on the occasion Salman said the administration has completely failed in dispensing its basic duties. “People are feeling the heat of the ongoing power crisis Price rise and rising unemployment graph in Srinagar,” he said.
He added that the phased flood management plan on river Jhelum despite huge budgetary allocations and approvals is yet to pick up on the ground. “It seems that the government seems to have dumped the mega project,” he said adding, “The annual desiltation and dredging of the small rivulets, ponds, swamps, irrigation canals and lagoons in Srinagar and elsewhere is not on the to-do list of the government. The entire population of Srinagar and other low-lying areas across Kashmir are living on a knife-edge.”
