Workshop on Fundamentals of Network and System Administration concludes at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, 29 Aug: A five-day workshop on “Fundamentals of Network and System Administration” concluded at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar. It was aimed to highlight journey through the intricacies of modern network and system management.
The mega event was organized by Computer Service Center, IET On-Campus NIT Srinagar and IEEE Student Branch NIT Srinagar in collaboration with Juniper Networks. It covered various topics related to System Administration, network administration and virtualization.
In his inaugural address, Prof. (Dr) Sudhakar Yedla, Director NIT Srinagar lauded the initiative for its forward-looking approach in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
He emphasized the significance of such collaborative endeavors that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands. Prof. Yedla highlighted the workshop’s potential to equip students with practical skills that will be invaluable in their careers.
“In the rapidly evolving landscape of technology, workshops like these provide a unique opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience, fostering a deeper understanding of the concepts and practices that drive modern network and system administration,” he said.
On Sunday, the valedictory session witnessed a gathering of not only participants and coordinators but also esteemed guests who added prestige to the occasion.
Prof. A H Bhat, Convener of the workshop, welcomed the audience and set the tone for an evening of reflection and appreciation. He acknowledged the representatives from Juniper Networks, Prof G A Harmain, Dean of Faculty Welfare, Dr Pankaj Kumar, Dr. Janib-ul-Bashir and Dr. Chilakaranga for their presence and support.
The presence of Dr. Shahid Saleem, Head of the Department of Training and Placement also graced the occasion.
The event unfolded with an insightful welcome address by Prof. A H Bhat. He lauded the collaborative spirit that powered the workshop and expressed his gratitude to everyone involved.
“The workshop is a testament to what can be achieved when academia and industry converge to empower students with knowledge that goes beyond textbooks,” Prof. Bhat said.
He said the workshop was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practices, and received an invaluable boost from the representatives of Juniper Networks.
On the occasion, special invitee Khawar Bhat, Hexa-CCIE shared his insights into the rapidly evolving world of network and system administration that resonated deeply with the audience.
He emphasized the significance of practical learning and how the workshop’s content was aligned with the demands of the industry.
The valedictory session concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants who had dedicated themselves to a week of intensive learning.  
Prof. A H Bhat, and Khawar Bhat joined hands to honor the students who had embraced the challenges and opportunities presented by the workshop.
Er. Mustafa Zargar delivered a vote of thanks that captured the sentiments of everyone involved. He expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, coordinators, and partners who had contributed to the success of the event.
Earlier, in the inaugural session of workshop was graced by Aditya Parashar and Vipul Sirohi on August 21 representing Juniper and Belden networks, the event’s sponsor.
The significance of this collaboration was highlighted as industry experts shared their insights and perspectives on the evolving landscape of network and system administration.
The event also saw the participation of Dr. Gausia Quazi, Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Faculty Coordinator from IEEE and Dr. Ranga, faculty coordinator from IET, Dr. Janib, Coordinator for the workshop.
