Ganderbal, Aug 30: Police on Wednesday carried out a destruction drive of wild cannabis cultivation on a massive scale across Ganderbal district.
“On the direction of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, the drive was carried out by police parties led by SHOs of Police Stations and Incharge Police Posts, along with the team Revenue and Excise Department & Irrigation and Flood Control,” a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here, adding, “The respectable citizens also participated in the destruction drive with fervour and enthusiasm.”
The general public of these areas has widely appreciated the action taken by the police and assured their full cooperation in future to eradicate the drug menace from society, he said.
“The community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding the cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. The persons found indulging in drug peddling and cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt with as per the law,” the spokesperson said.
